CAD-LED FDM & RESIN PRINTING

3D printing for functional parts, prototypes and small-batch components.

The value is not just pressing “print”. LP Designs combines FDM and resin printing with CAD capability, so an enquiry can start with a ready-to-print file or with a part that still needs designing.

What LP can produce

Functional parts, prototypes and useful small-batch work.

LP Designs is aimed at practical work where fit, geometry and function matter. If the part does not exist yet, the custom part design service can take it from dimensions or a brief into printable CAD.

CAD

Custom brackets & mounts

Purpose-built brackets, equipment mounts, interface plates and location-specific parts designed around dimensions and constraints.

ADP

Adapters & interfaces

Parts that connect two existing products or standards when an off-the-shelf adapter is unavailable or poorly suited.

ENC

Enclosures & housings

Custom boxes, covers, equipment housings and prototype enclosures with openings, mounting points and fastener features.

JIG

Jigs & workshop aids

Drilling guides, positioning tools, spacers, holders and repeatable workshop aids for fabrication, installation or assembly.

REP

Replacement parts

Non-safety-critical replacement components recreated from measurements, an existing item or supplied CAD where a sensible printed alternative exists.

BATCH

Prototype & small batch

One-off fit checks through to short production runs where additive manufacturing is more practical than tooling or machining.

Two print processes

Use the process that suits the part.

FDM and resin printing solve different problems. LP will choose based on size, detail, material needs and intended use rather than forcing every job through one machine.

FDM

FDM printing

Best suited to larger functional parts, brackets, enclosures, jigs and prototypes. PLA and PETG are currently available, with PETG preferred for many tougher functional applications.

RESIN

Resin printing

Best suited to small parts, finer geometry, detailed prototypes and components where surface detail matters more than large build volume.

InputSTL, 3MF, STEP/STP, sketches, dimensions, photos or an existing part to work from.
CAD changesModel creation, dimensional changes, hole patterns, fit adjustments and design-for-print revisions can be quoted separately.
MaterialsPLA and PETG for FDM work. Resin options depend on the application and stock available.
FinishingSupport removal and basic clean-up can be included. Assembly and additional finishing are quoted where needed.
Best-fit work

Where CAD + printing gives LP an advantage.

These are the jobs worth chasing because the customer is paying for a solved problem, not just grams of plastic.

MOTO

Motorcycle accessories

Bike-specific mounts, brackets, adapters and fitment prototypes where geometry and installation constraints matter.

PRO

Product prototypes

Early physical samples used to verify size, fit, ergonomics, interfaces and assembly before committing to a final manufacturing method.

BSP

Bespoke client parts

Small custom parts for businesses, workshops and project teams that need something made around their specific equipment or workflow.

Indicative starting point

Small 3D print jobs typically start from around £20.

That is a minimum job level, not a flat rate. Final price depends on setup, material, machine time, quantity, supports, finishing and risk. CAD or model changes are quoted separately.

PRINT-ONLY JOBSfrom ~£20Subject to suitability, scope and review before work starts.
How quoting works

Quote the whole job, not just the filament.

Price depends on setup, material, machine time, CAD work, supports, finishing, assembly and print risk. Simple repeat parts and awkward one-offs should not be priced the same way.

1

Send the part or idea

Provide CAD, dimensions, photos, sketches or the existing component and explain what the part needs to do.

2

LP reviews suitability

Material, orientation, tolerances, supports and whether printing is actually the right manufacturing method are considered before quoting.

3

Prototype, refine, produce

Where required, start with a fit-check prototype, revise the CAD and move into the final print or small batch.

Safety-critical parts

3D printing is not automatically appropriate for structural, high-temperature, pressure-retaining, braking, steering, protective or other safety-critical applications. LP may decline these jobs or require a different material/manufacturing route and appropriate engineering validation.

Customer-supplied files

Files supplied for printing must be owned by the customer or appropriately licensed for the requested use. LP may decline work where reproduction or commercial-use rights are unclear.

Got a part in mind?

Send a photo, sketch, STL or STEP file and explain how it needs to fit and what it needs to survive.
